Datasat Digital Entertainment Inks DC20 Digital Cinema Processor Deal With South Africa’s Ster-Kinekor

Chatsworth, Calif – June 23, 2010 Datasat Digital Entertainment is proud to announce that South Africa’s largest cinema exhibitor Ster-Kinekor will be installing the DC20 Digital Cinema Processor at more than 20 of their sites in the coming months.
“The DC20 is the server to install into 3D cinemas,” said Johan van Staden, Technical Manager for Ster-Kinekor. “The features on the DC20 make the uploading of content so much easier and faster. The connections and installations go very fast, and the software is very user friendly.”
Datasat Digital Entertainment’s AP20 Audio Processor Heard Around The World

Chatsworth, Calif – June 22, 2010 Datasat Digital Entertainment’s AP20 was the audio processor of choice for the Daniel Sorano National Theatre Inauguration in Senegal and recently installed and demoed across the globe in select and premier theatres.
As part of an effort to reintroduce cinema in West Africa, Au Cinema Ce Soir outfitted the Daniel Sorano National Theatre with new AP20 16-channel Audio Processor in addition to Digital Cinema and 3D kit.
“The AP20 was selected as the audio processor for both its optimized equalization system and its endless possibilities of inputs,” explained Boris Visonneau, Technical Support Engineer at R2D1, the French distributor for Datasat Digital Entertainment equipment.
President of the Republic of Senegal Abdoulaye Wade and President of the Republic of Burundi Pierre Nkurunziza were in attendance for the theatre’s inaugural event, a screening of Walt Disney Pictures’ Alice in Wonderland in April.
Across the Atlantic, Framingham’s AMC Theatre was host to an AP20 demo in June. Dealers and industry professionals were in attendance to hear the audio processor’s openness and clarity.

Datasat Digital Entertainment Announces Support of 7.1 Discrete Surround Format

Chatsworth, Calif – June 21, 2010 Datasat Digital Entertainment, Inc. announced on Monday the compatibility of the Datasat™ AP20 16-channel audio processor with the new 7.1 discrete surround format utilized by Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios on the latest Woody and Buzz installment, Toy Story 3. By utilizing the AP20 16-channel audio processor, Datasat has assisted cinemas in upgrading to the new discrete surround format.
“Datasat is excited to see the industry creative groups playing with different speaker placements that add to the cinema goers’ unique experience,” stated Dusty Thomas, Vice President of Product Sales at Datasat Digital Entertainment. “We have enjoyed assisting our AP20 customers configure their rooms to support this new format.”
Engineered to deliver precise reproduction of both analog and digital sources, the AP20 leverages the power of 6 Analog Devices® 400mHz DSPs. The processor also features exclusive rights to Dirac Live® room optimization technology within the cinema space.
Other key product features include individual channel and global delays, integrated crossovers, HDMI for alternative content, 31 bands of 3rd Octave or 4 bands of Parametric EQ per channel and three expansion slots for future development.
“The new 7.1 discrete surround format is only one of many new combinations that will arise with the implementation of 16 discrete channel audio processors, like the AP20,” said Jason Vreeman, Vice President of Emerging Technologies at Datasat Digital Entertainment. “As production groups become more experimental, exhibitors will be able to capitalize on their new equipment.”
